So probably Cilic-Mayer on Friday
Mayer beat him in the same place this year already.
And Dodig-Kohlschreiber is also hard to call.. Any score is possible after Friday matches.

I reckon that German players are slightly better on these days but playing in home soil gives the Croatian a slight chance to win it. This is going to be a very interesting tie

Ljubicic has normally stopped his carreer in Davis Cup, and only played exceptionally in QF last year since Karkovic was injured.

Now they have Dodig and Karlovic, and Ljubicic is injured himself and doubtful for IW.

so far I would rather think Dodig has made a great start of the season, but who knows how he and Karlovic (who only lost 7/6 7/6 to Tipsarevic last week) feel now and the strategies in Davis cup ...

Hopefully Marin has finally found a way to beat Mayer, but it hasn't been long since he lost in straight sets. If he loses again we have to hope for Dodig's great fighting ability so we don't go 0-2 down after Friday.

Re: World Group 1R: Germany at Croatia (March 4-6, 2011)

Very interesting tie.

Germany has the class and depth. Croatia has the power, although it is heavily reliant on Cilic to perform.

Quite some pressure on Dodig now, and I'm not sure how he'll handle it. Both Germans are beatable, but he will have to be at his best and, for me, he is a bit overrated.

Veic is a bit redundant really, but it doesn't look like the team had any other options. No chance he sees any live action unless there is major fatigue/injury.

Would be nice if Germany goes through, although it is a little amusing that they're all known chokers (not sure about Kas) and will have to deliver against a passionate Croat crowd.

Not so sure about how passionate the crowd will be. Last year against Serbia and the year before against Czech Republic it was a disgrace. I'll probably go there on Sunday and I'll do my best to make some noise
