Re: Wimbledon Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated June 12, 2011)

I read Cuevas wasn't playing here. I'm surprised his name is still on the entry list. I read Robredo wasn't coming back until post-Wimbledon so I guess it's all up in the air.

Gonzo has said a few times he's playing. With that said, I expect him to lose R1 or retire in the match.

So how they decide who gets LL spots , is it based on rankings or is it random selection like making a draw ?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_loser they have a draw between the four highest ranked players to decide who gets the spot. No idea what they do if there are four or more withdrawals. Does anyone know currently how many Lucky Loser spots there are?

If there are four or more, they will make two more people than the available places, then randomly pick them.. example, if there are 5 place available, they will pick from 7 highest rank players

Chile’s Fernando Gonzalez was the star attraction on the first day of the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, defeating local qualifier Harry Meehan 7-5, 7-6(5) at Calderstones Park.

The former world number five impressed on his debut on Centre Court, as he continues his comeback from hip and knee surgery in preparation for Wimbledon next week.

“I really enjoyed it,” said Gonzalez. “It was a really nice atmosphere here in the park and that helps when the crowd enjoys it too.

“It was a bit difficult for me with the conditions after two years without playing on a grass court, but I’m sure it’ll get better and better throughout the week.”

Both players began the match solidly on serve, as the inexperienced Meehan appeared unfazed by his star opponent.

The 16-year-old from Allerton competed well throughout, showing signs of the form that saw him cruise through qualifying for the event last weekend.

However, in Gonzalez the youngster faced a veteran from the ATP Tour and the 30-year-old’s ferocious forehand was in full flow as he broke in the 12th game to take the first set 7-5.

Meehan continued to fight and clearly thrived with the home crowd on his side. The local schoolboy was a force once again on serve, using all six foot five inches of his frame to take the second set into a tie-break.

But it was the 2007 Australian Open Finalist who captured the decisive break once again, forcing Meehan into an error on serve before closing out the contest on his second match point to come through unscathed.

Play continues this afternoon with former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek taking on ex-British number one Greg Rusedski on Centre Court.
Horrible scoreline...qualifier into an exo??? But he's back

Re: Wimbledon Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated June 12, 2011)

i was just very pesimistic about gonzo..even if he said he was playing i was expecting him to pull out but it does seem like he fully intends to play

robredo and petzschner seem like they will more than likely both play

ferrero, becker and querrey are confirmed out

hewitt, cuevas and granollers still pending

so 3 LL spots for sure and 3 more possibly

Because edemema continue his right knee and persistent pain that prevent you from working normally looking to strengthen the affected area, Pablo has decided not to contest the third Grand Slam of the season.
This condition prevented him from performing workouts on the grass surface at Wimbledon which is developed and that would have intervened at a disadvantage.
The ultimate goal of the Uruguayan, is to play in the series is ideal for Davis Cup, Uruguay will be measured against Brazil.
Cuevas IS out

-3 LL: Robredo and Granollers will play, Ferrero withdrew earlier and alternate replaces him.

Nineteen qualifiers. Does that mean 3 last minute withdrawals?
