Re: Main Draw

That fourth quarter is not good. Bjorn has a good chance to beat Jeremy if he plays consistently. Pippo should beat Benneteau if he's not tired. Golubev has a very kind draw. Poto should have a good shot at making at least the SF here also.

Re: Main Draw

I just hate it that the top 4 gets a bye. It's so ridiculous!

Re: Main Draw

The 2 portuguese players draw in the 1st round 2 claycourters, but I think it was a good draw. Fred is better than Bolleli in normal days, and RRH it's in the same level of Rui. Montanes, Fognini and Potito were the players to avoid here, so I'm optimist.

EDIT: I was mixing Bolelli with Volandri. Simon is more a hardcourt player, so even more chances for Fred. It's the first clay match that the italian will play this season.

Yes, as you say Gil has a decent first round, but look who he gets in second round! Simon, another player that only played hard-court in 2011, but from a much higher standard!
Almost always bad luck on draws for Gil!
But maybe he can make it at least to QF, he needs a bit more that 100 points between here, Monte Carlo, Napoli and Estoril, if he wants to secure his Top-100 spot and Direct Acceptance for Wimbledon. It won't be easy, he lost a lot of good chances in February to score some good points...

Re: Main Draw

Yes, 2nd round very hard, i agree. In Montecarlo he won't do nothing special. In Napoli i think he can do at least the final. In Estoril, it will depend a lot of thte draw, but i'm confident of a QF. Of course he will drop places, but stil, i think he will remain in top100, and will get RG MD. Machado will be harder to do that, IMO.

I think RG entry list is based on next monday's ranking, so Gil would be in for sure and Machado could be at the edge... Thinking in RG, RRH win over Machado could be really important for the spanish player.

TT Singles: 88
TT Doubles: 106

You're correct, of course, but Machado&Gil was surely refering to Wimbledon. That's the GS in which the points until the week after Estoril will be relevant, and was the one refered on my post, which he was answering to...

I'm not that certain that Gil can manage more than 100 points until the week after Estoril, but I really hope so, and he is playing really well, so let's go for it! But, less than that, and he will be in Wimbledon Qualifying, if my math is correct.
Until now, it's 20 points from this convincing victory today. Let's see how he goes Thursday against Simon.
Go Gil!
