Re: John Isner

He won 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 apparently. It might be wrong since I doubt it was a best of 5 final, but who cares what the score was, he won the wildcard, which is good. Good job John, now hopefully he will have a good showing there .

Re: John Isner

BOCA RATON - The French Open came to Boca Raton Thursday. Sort of.

As part of a reciprocal agreement with the USTA and French Tennis Federation, an American man and woman - whose rank is too low to earn a spot straight into the 128-player draws - will receive wild cards straight into the brick red clay-court Slam (May 24-June 7) if they prevail at this week's home-turf qualifiers.

When the Har-tru clay dust cleared at Boca West top-seeded John Isner, the 113th-ranked player in the world, beat 130th-ranked Jesse Levine of Boca Raton 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 to win the eight-player tournament.

"It's huge. It's a long way to go, kind of a crapshoot to win three rounds of qualifying matches. It takes a lot of pressure off me,'' said Isner, who moves well for someone 6-foot-9. "He was up 0-40 to go up 5-3 in the second set but I held my composure and played well in the third set.''

Levine survived a scare when he crashed into the net while chasing a drop shot in the second set, but he was unable to deal with Isner's all-court attack.
