Re: Wimbledon 2010

he can atleast make the 3rd round, which is good because he will atleast be able to defend his 3rd round performance from last year

Re: Wimbledon 2010

Is court 14 a TV court?

Edit: it seems it is, it's listed on the ESPN homepage.

Re: Wimbledon 2010

I would totally fancy his chances in the 3rd round, but my female intuition is a big failure when it comes to Kohli.

German TV is showing his match live. :faint:

Re: Wimbledon 2010

can't find a feed.

i say he can beat Roddick if his first serve was that of the 2008 AO match. I remember he served 32 aces in that match. Also, last year, I think Kohli gave Federer a tougher match than Roddick. Federer really had to play some amazing stuff against Kohli to pull that match out.

Re: Wimbledon 2010

You don't miss much if you can't find a stream. Thanks God he woke up just in time in the last 2 games of the 3rd set, he had been playing some terrible tennis in sets 2 and 3. UE galore, poor returning, no rhythm on his serve... The last 2 games were really good, though.
Starace is just looking frustrated atm, let's hope Philipp will take advantage of it and take a big lead.

The German commentator said that his coach isn't in Wimbledon, he's there with his condition trainer and his gf only. It's fine if they don't want to travel together all the time, but his coach really should be there during the Slams at least.

Re: Wimbledon 2010

how did he play in the first set? and how's he doing now?
Is he actually playing good again or is it more that starace is starting to get frsutrated?

Re: Wimbledon 2010

He's on fire now! Gorgeous BH dropshot and BH cross winner to get a double break.
The serve and especially the returns are much, much better now.

I didn't see much of the first set, but he looked OK to me. Then I decided to follow the "last 2 sets" - and he started playing terrible tennis. ^^

Re: Wimbledon 2010

He gave some news on his homepage, but doesn't mention the coaching situation.
I hadn't realized that the English version isn't really the translation of the German version. In German he explains that it gave him a bit of trouble to play the last match of the day, it had been a very long tennis day and it's hard for him to keep up the tension for the whole day (I guess the earliest he plays, the better for him, it reminds me of that other interview a few months ago when he said that he wakes up early and can't wait to play then - 2nd match of the day tomorrow, it should be better).
But he's happy with his overall performance except in the 2nd set. The idea was to be more aggressive and he was able to put it into practice.

Court 19 tomorrow, no livestream.

Re: Wimbledon 2010

gabashvili is playing well lately, i hope philipp will come through. At the very least he needs to make the 3rd round, he doesnt need to be losing any more points right now.

Re: Wimbledon 2010

kohli just got the break

up 3-2 in the first set over gabashvili

facing break point himself though

and he's broken

followed by 40-15 hold for gabashvili

kohli now trails 3-4

kohli down 4-5
