Best and Worst of 2009

Can I create a topic?
This one should go for the best and worst players in Challengers in 2009.
Would be good to have some help.

May I start with:

Best:

Blaz Kavcic- W: Alessandria, Constanta F: San Remo, Rijeka. Rose from 286# to 132# (10/08).
Horacio Zeballos- W:Campos do Jordao, Manta, Bucaramanga, Bogota F: Pereira, Bogota-2. Rose from 196# to 82# (10/08).
Michael Russell- W:Savannah, Carson-2. F: Salinas. Rose from 257# to 117# (10/08).

Worst:

Jesse Huta Galung-
W:Caltanisseta. 6 DEFEATS in a row. Fell from 176# to 238# (10/08).
George Bastl- 2009 CH record: 4-9 (qualy:3-3). Fell from 234# to 277#.

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

Best:

Benni Becker - W:Cremona,Rhodes,Baton Rouge,Heilbronn. F:Ramat Hasharon. from #135 to #48

Flo Mayer - W:Karlsruhe,Bangkok. F: Noumea,Sofia. + 4 semis. from #409 to #129

Jan Hajek - W:Prostejov,Ostrava(both out of q). F:Bytom. from #474 to #154

Worst:

Olivier Patience - 2-9 on CH tour. from #140 to #179

Tomas Tenconi - 7-16 on ch tour. from #159 to #157

both didn't lose too many positions in the rankings but have really bad results for players around #150 and former decent ch players

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

worst doesn't make much sense imo

best challenger player this year seems to be between Becker and Zeballos right now

Luczak's had a decent season as well

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

Well not exactly worst but let´s say disapointments.
Until the end of year we could make a top 10 in best performances and disapointments.

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

I have actually been compiling statistics, including win/loss-ratio.

When filtering out those players who played ten or fewer matches, these are the top ten. The number in between the first set of brackets indicates the number of titles they won. Please note that only matches in the main draws are counted.

Code:
Top 10 W/L-Ratio:

1. Becker, Benjamin (4) / 87.10% (27/31)
2. Demoliner, Marcelo (1) / 81.82% (9/11)
2. Vik, Robin (1) / 81.82% (9/11)
4. Vliegen, Kristof (2) / 81.25% (13/16)
5. Gonzalez, Maximo (2) / 80.00% (16/20)
6. Beck, Andreas (1) / 78.95% (15/19)
7. Dolgopolov Jr., Oleksandr (1) / 78.57% (11/14)
8. Zeballos, Horacio (4) / 77.08% (37/48)
9. Minar, Ivo (2) / 76.19% (16/21)
9. Starace, Potito (1) / 76.19% (16/21)

BEMELMANS | CHARDY | CHIUDINELLI
CIPOLLA| ROGER-VASSELIN | MCGEE

Bachinger|Basilashvili|Brands|Broady|Clezar|Cuevas |Eysseric|Giannessi|Gombos
Granollers|Grigelis|Huta Galung|Ilhan|Kudla|Al. Kuznetsov|Mannarino
Menendez|Mitchell|Naso|Paire|Peliwo|Polansky|Rober t|Rubin|Smyczek|J. Sousa|Weintraub

Demo has really good stats, hopefully he keeps winning more than losing.

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

And then the same for the worst win/loss-ratio, again only for players with n > 10 matches.

Code:
Bottom 10 W/L-Ratios:

1. Miele, André / 13.33% (2/15)
2. Petrazzuolo, Giancarlo / 18.75% (3/16)
3. Amado, Juan-Pablo / 20.00% (3/15)
4. Ghedin, Riccardo / 23.53% (4/17)
5. Sirianni, Joseph / 25.00% (4/16)
6. Silva, Daniel / 25.00% (3/12)
7. Nuñez, Eric / 27.27% (3/11)
8. Moraru, Gabriel / 27.27% (3/11)
9. Pospisil, Jaroslav / 28.57% (4/14)
10. Widom, Todd / 29.41% (5/17)
10. Naso, Gianluca / 29.41% (5/17)
Interestingly enough, Pavel Snobel, Tomas Tenconi and Kristian Pless (all of whom have n > 20) are not far removed from these bottom ten.

Don't know how you got Patience on 2/11, unless you included this week's results.

Marquez was spot on. Becker was brilliant, and Tenconi wasn't.

Re: Best and Worst of 2009

Hehe Qureshi never qualified
Stats are great, thanks Martjn.
Some players like Russell doesn´t have top 20 stats but they surely won good strategic positions.
Maybe at the end of year a requirement of 15 or 20 matches would make a good filter.
