"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

Heh. His forearm's pretty cool-looking.

And he beat Vinnaay, too. Yay.

We need more pics to put in here.

Re: ~*~ OLIVER MARACH (AUT) ~*~

Hello hello

Ah Tangy, yet another reason why I'm one of your fans

Yes indeed...he does deserve a thread, the only thing stopping me was the fear that if I created one, I might forget to go into the general Austrian one, thus appearing ignorant of Jürgen -which, let's face it, I have been...since I discovered Oliver also I was thinking I might be the only one in it, but this proves me wrong

First thing I noticed about the picture - where is his ring?

I was so worried last night in the second set, when Vinnay was leading 2-0 . Extremely glad to see him come back so convincingly. alberto must be so proud Now, Gilles Simon...

SLAM Sports had this to say:
Quote:
Marach, a 25-year-old Austrian, planned to play in qualifying matches for the French Open in Paris this week, but slipped into the main draw after others pulled out. The 97th-ranked Marach then received a wild card for Poertschach and dominated No. 71-ranked Spadea with his strong service.

"I am relieved to finally be in the top 100," Marach said. "I tried hard to get there, and now it makes me feel comfortable on the court. I could take on Spadea without pressure."

Re: ~*~ OLIVER MARACH (AUT) ~*~

Good on him. It's nice to have career high rankings, three weeks in a row
( Ahh how I love that shirt on him ) Thanks for the info Tangy! I'm a bit busy this week, so don't have enough time to do the photo/score thing. Fantastic to see him with a great second set.

Now he plays Pavel. He lost to him the last time they played, but Peta and I like to think it was to prevent friction between the two of us (with her being a massive Pavel fan). But now...bring on the friction!!! i say....

So, according to this
https://atp-playerzone.com/posting/2006/306/MDS.pdf
he has an added 40 points this week?

TSN (24 May)
Quote:
PORTSCHACH, Austria (Ticker) - Andrei Pavel and Oliver Marach will not be pressed into double duty Thursday at the Hypo Group Tennis International.

Pavel and Marach advanced to the quarterfinals of the $388,630 claycourt event on Wednesday, when no other matches got underway because of steady rain.

Pavel posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Brazilian Marcos Daniel, who had upset second-seeded Australian Lleyton Hewitt in the first round. The match was halted after the Romanian won the first set, and he was dominant after a lengthy delay.

He will face Marach in the round of eight Thursday after the Austrian wild card upset eighth-seeded Frenchman Gilles Simon, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1. Simon had held a 6-5 lead when their encounter was interrupted.

The other six second-round matches will be played Thursday, with those winners also having to play quarterfinals later in the day. Among those who may have to win twice is top seed and defending champion Nikolay Davydenko of Russia, who was slated to play Spanish qualifier Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo on Wednesday.
Andrei df Oli 64, 62.

Cyril Suk/Oliver Marach df Vince Spadea/Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 2-6, 10-3.
They next play Bhupathi/Knowle, who progressed after Chela and Horna gave a walkover (Horna - back).

(How cute is this addition to his website!?! The 'Top 100 Player' )

Re: ~*~ OLIVER MARACH (AUT) ~*~

Poor Mahesh! This is great news Hopefully they can take it out (and yeah, I just went and looked at who they are playing Well, I guess either way I'll be happy. His rankings will improve, and someone I like will have won the doubles.

(I'm annoyed that Horna gave a walkover to Pavel! LOL Oli, you kill me! Yes, I'm just envious of Pavels success this week )

Here's a photo from the Pavel match. Plenty more on the GEPA website.

Re: ~*~ OLIVER MARACH (AUT) ~*~

uhh...according to the Sassuolo site (Italian challenger this week, which has had numerous errors):
Brzezicki d. Marach 1-6 6-0 6-0

No disrespect to JPB, but... unless Olivers leg was broken, I don't know how he could manage such a result. I'm hoping it's a mistake on the site, and at the least, he won some more games! "Mr Marach! You've got some 'splaining to do!"

Edit: It's his shoulder that is the problem

Re: ~*~ OLIVER MARACH (AUT) ~*~

He's in the Lugano Challenger in Switzerland. Seeded quite nicely...

Singles:
(3)Marach vs Teimuraz Gabashvili

Doubles:
(1)Marach/Galimberti vs Frederico Gil(POR)/Diego Hartfield(ARG)

His ranking is back down to 97 this week.

Hopefully it was only a minor problem that's all cleared up by now.
