Re: Konstantinos Economidis - One Victory Away from RG main draw!

Guccione confident despite poor form
DESPITE losing his past three clay court matches to world No.408 Ben Balleret, No.213 Victor Crivoli and No.524 Diego Alvarez, Australian player Chris Guccione remains remarkably confident heading into his French Open opener at Roland Garros tonight (AEST).
Aware six weeks ago that he would more than likely qualify for the main draw - Guccione was listed as the first qualifier when the draw was announced - the lanky Aussie has been honing his game around Europe's clay courts.
His results have been somewhat less than mixed, but world No.100-ranked Guccione is confident that his game will be there when it is needed.
"I planned my approach carefully heading into this," he said.
"I haven't had many good results on clay this year. I haven't been playing too well. But I'm practising well on clay at the moment.
"The last couple of results haven't been so good but I've had some of my best results on clay so it gives me some hope."
Guccione was eliminated in the first round in Croatia by Balleret, in the second round in Rome by Crivoli, and then again suffered a first-round exit against Alvarez in Mexico.
Guccione plays Konstantinos Economidis tonight, and he is hopeful that his clay court practice form will mix with his performances on the recent American hardcourt circuit to provide a solid run in Paris.
Guccione, one of the more relaxed figures on the world tour, spent Saturday preparing for his opener even though he was "not even sure" who his opponent was.
"I'm playing a qualifier," he said.
Guccione is fucken shit, hes only half decent on hardcourt, worst player ive ever seen on clay, having said that dnt know how eco is on clay but he had a good run in the qualifying so pretty optimistic that eco can beat this cocky malaka
