Re: Estonia's Finest (yes better than Kanepi): Jurgen Zopp

Hi, I played with Jurgen in a Team in Germany back in 2008 and I got really excited when he entered the bigger tournaments during the last two years.
Sadly, you don't hear anything about him in Germany. Does anyone have more information about him and/or his injury that apparently kept him from playing the AO? Kind of ironic that he retired at the same tournament two years in a row and has to take such a long break twice...

Back problems.
He had a 3 week training camp in Thailand before Christmas. He said he was able to train like he wanted, injury didn't bother him that much anymore. But he still decided not to play at AO, to pick up some form and get more healthier. He is planning to start playing weaker tournaments again in February. He still has PR for 3 more tournaments left.

Hi!
Finally he is coming back. Playing Kazan (Russia) Challenger next week.
Then if the back holds up Futures in Saint-Raphaël (France). He could go to the French Open with protected ranking he said. Let's hope for the best this time.

Jurgen's final round qualies match against Mektic is being streamed right now. He won the first set 6-3, playing pretty well and doing what he has to do.

Edit - He ended up winning 6-3, 7-6. Went down an early break in the second but kept his composure and managed to break back at 4-3. Then it went on serve until the tiebreak where Zopp eventually prevailed. Most important thing was that he was moving well and the back didn't seem to be bothering him.

So glad to see he's finally back on the court! But - he was planned for doubles w/ michon. Apparently they cancelled due to jurgen. It says 'low back' in the draw... Hope it's nothing serious again!

Yeah he's had to pull out of the singles as well... Hope it's nothing too serious but not a good sign at all...

Yeah not good. He said it's the back again but not the old spot. Sigh.
He'll go to the doc but he'll know more next week. What bad luck he's had, might quit soon.

That's what I've been thinking about, too. It's a huge mental disadvantage, knowing you have been a top 100 player but haven't been properly practicing and playing for 2 years now...

Re: Estonia's Finest: Jurgen Zopp

Very bad news. His back has gotten even worse than it was before. Don't know if I understand right but he was talking sth about a broken vertebrae
Now he takes a month off from everything to let it heal. Looking very bad but he hopes it isn't the end of his career.

Hi! You probably google-translated the news, right?
Yep, you got it right, another stress fracture, worse than before! * of proportions like never before and moaning* Acute inflammation and hematoma so a month's rest first.
Yeah well hope dies last but wtf is this with his back? Is it like a curse or smth?

Re: Estonia's Finest: Jurgen Zopp

On Facebook he posted a headline from delphi news that declared he was bound to a wheelchair. As far as I could translate the news and his reaction, he said that pain was bearable and movement was not that bad. Seems like he is taking a month off again and then going to the doctors to see what's next...
I'm glad he doesn't need a wheelchair but it doesn't sound too good for Jurgen anyway!

Yes I saw that on FB, it was about the same news article we cited above, he said he hasn't given up on is career yet so we'll see how things will work out. That news headline was "a bit misleading" to put it mildly so he said he didn't like it.
