Also Paris Gemouchidis, but he had a terrible 2008.

Marcos Baghdatis Forever!

Through the good and the bad, always my #1, no matter what the rankings say

Re: greeks or cypriots?

I am a little delayed on this, but here are the results for the U18 tennis euope davis cup this year:
qualifying round at Piestany,Slovakia:
Greece vs.Israel:
singles-Soifer ISR d.Triantis GRE 75 16 75
singles-Gilad ISR d.Kapogiannis GRE 36 63 62
doubles-Gamazov/Soifer ISR d.Kapogiannis/Glezos GRE 63 06 76
ISR 3-0
-This tie could've gone either way really. all 3 setters. Too bad it couldn't go our way for once.
Greece vs.Ukraine:
singles-Dologosheyev UKR d.Glezos GRE 64 36 62
singles-Kapogiannis GRE d.Yatsenko UKR 46 75 64
doubles-Poplavskyy/Dologosheyev UKR d.Kapogiannis/Triantis GRE 60 64
UKR 2-1
-Once again, we had a winnable tie and we were unsuccessful.
-Final result:7th place(last) in Qualifying group. Terrible considering only European nations competed in it, and we finished last in one of the 4 qualifying groups.

Re: greeks or cypriots?

U16 qualifying in arezzo,itlay:
Greece vs.Italy:
singles-Gaio ITA d. Tarassis GRE 63 63
singles-Colello ITA d.Mikos 67 64 75
doubles-Patracchini/Gaio ITA d.Kokkotas/Tarassis GRE 63 64
ITA 3-0
Greece vs.Bulgaria:
singles-Radev BUL d.Kokkotas GRE 46 64 76
singles-Kuzmanov BUL d.Tarassis GRE 60 60
doubles-Petrov/Kuzmanov BUL d.Tarassis/Kokkotas GRE 62 76
BUL 3-0
-Why Mikos didn't play is still a mystery to me.
Final result-6th place in qualifying group. At least we weren't last

Re: greeks or cypriots?

U14 qualfying in Velenje,Slovenia:
Greece vs.Latvia:
singles-Panoulas GRE d.Podzis LAT 75 63
singles-Podzus LAT d.Chatzimentor GRE 62 62
doubles-Fomkins/Podzus LAT d.Chatzimentor/Panoulas GRE 62 62
LAT 2-1
-Why only two guys played is kind of wierd to me. Then again doubles was the deciding rubber and Chatzimentor is our #1 so maybe they wanted him to play
Greece vs.Bulgaria:
singles-Karmadzha BUL d.Panoulas GRE 75 61
singles-Mitev BUL d.Chatzimentor GRE 63 62
doubles-Psarros/Chatzimentor GRE d.Petrov/Karmadzha BUL 67 62 62
BUL 2-1
-I guess we lost fair and square here
Greece vs.Moldova:
singles-Psarros GRE d.Baskov MOL 60 60
singles-Celarschi MOL d.Chatzimentor GRE 26 63 86
doubles-Panoulas/Psarros GRE d.Celarschi/Cozbinov MOL 60 62
GRE 2-1
-Thank God we won this tie. That would've been embaressing.
-Really, coming in 7th place out of 9 teams in one out of four European groups isn't too satisfying. I guess we will have to wait a long time for a star

Re: greeks or cypriots?

Sergis Kyratzis of Cyprus is ranked in the top10 of U14 Tennis Europe Juniors. Perhaps he can be a future star?

Re: greeks or cypriots?

Aggelos Venizelos, Ilias Giannakakis, Manolis Glezos seem quite promising.
