Re: World Group 2010 semifinals: Argentina at France (September 17-19, 2010)

Mika played well, his net game was good today. He wasn't amazing but he did the job. Pico has such a basic game, no variations, no different looks, he basically showed the same thing and he fought hard, but just not enough. He had chances to really win in straight sets but didn't take the opportunities, with Mika playing well when behind. Mika started serving better in that last set, beating Monaco up the T and out wide.

Good performance, expected victory and now the pressure is on David to win his rubber or this tie is essentially over.

Expected, but very good win under pressure. Good that he paid back the confidence that Forget gave him.

Gael is wearing David down with his movement, his returning, his consistency. Just grinding David down physically and mentally. And then being offensive at the correct moments. Great serving. I'm so impressed with Gael today.

Gael serving 2-1 sets, *4-3 in the forth.

What an incredible get off that drop shot from Monfils! He's firing on all cylinders.

Here it is !
Nalbandian too much confident and arrogant before the match saying that the H2H wasn't going to last very long in monfil's favor....

Now there is a physical answer from Monfils.

Lol, where are all those guys that thought Nalbi was a lock for 2 points?!

He is still higly overrated and not in a longshot at his level of a few years ago.

We're lost , anyway it was a great year, most of people, including me, believed at this moment of the year we would be playing to stay in World Group. Hope next year get a good draw and Delpo can play

Hopefully we can win this year because if DelPotro is back to his level and Nalbandian too next year, they'll be hard to beat...

I don't think Nadal will be playing DC anytime soon... but well yes, we still have a very competitive group of players for next year. Argentina lost its train in 2008 me thinks.

LOOOOOL, he actually said that (can you post a source?)? Now I'm really happy he's not winning the DC ever.

Greetings.

Re: World Group 2010 semifinals: Argentina at France (September 17-19, 2010)

Nalbandian said before the tie that if he'll play good he should win easily his 2 matches and when asked about the H2H positive for Monfils he said that it will not last long.
The source are the press conference for the beginning of the tie.

It was a bit presumptuous and he get punished for that...

Anyway he's a great player and with DelPotro back maybe has a chance...I just said that they will be difficult to beat but of course there are others favorites like spain especially if Nadal want to win the davis cup again, France who seems to find a good team spirit this year and still USA and maybe Serbia.

But the matches are difficult even for the favorites this year with lots of injuries (DelPotro, Tsonga...) and tired players (Djokovic, Wawrinka ?)...so it's not easy to predict.

The difficulty for davis cup is to be good all the year, because in tennis there are often "momentum" and players don't play all that good all the year so teams must have lots of good players to have a chance. That's what happens with france this year with Tsonga and Gasquet not good but whith the raise of Monfils who finally is more stable and Llodra.

Yes, it was a very good effort. Your team should be proud to have made the SF. If Del Potro can return fit and healthy, and to the playing standard he had before his injury you will have a strong team.

It is hard to predict imo, especially as he was a member of the winning team back in 2004...nothing more for him to achieve in this competition. I could see him helping out perhaps in the 1st round (if he doesn't have to change surface) or in World Group qualifying.

France is the first finalist of the DC '10. Congrats guys totally deserved.

Good luck in the final now.
