Now, this tie could get very complicated for the Americans. Because from reading the quotes and seeing both Mardy and Sam today, they aren't feeling the ball. John seemed out on his feet at the Open and he's not really that great of a volleyer, so this could be a real problem tomorrow in the doubles, if Ryan has to be relied on with his inexperience. Farah/Salamanca should be an adequate team, but is definitely beatable if the boys play their game.
I'm scared now, though. I still think that Falla is a victory for either Sam or John, but Giraldo seems to be a level too steep for any of the Americans. We might be in trouble if we don't take the doubles.
Yeah, it is starting to look a little tough for your boys out there.
They should be favourites to win the doubles, but, as you say, you couldn't be too confident. I consider that to be almost a 'must win' match actually, as I believe that the Colombians are capable of winning one, or even both, of the reverse singles.
As for the decision to leave the Bryans at home...clearly PMac wasn't going to take the risk of Fish/Querrey pulling up injured at the last minute. At least with the players you have you could forge a good doubles team (Isner and Harrison/Fish/Querrey) and have all available singles options. It was a gutsy decision to make, but if your team wins the doubles rubber then there is nothing more to discuss on that issue!
