Who's Going?

So my friend and I are going to be in London at the very beginning of the Aegon tournament and he seems amenable to accompanying me.

I got the email from the tournament about purchasing tickets and I wanted to ask the board members their opinion on what to buy when the lottery opens up. I've never been to an ATP tournament. I see there is a heirarchy of seats, with the most expensive ones being for the main court and then progressively less expensive tickets for the outer courts. If I purchase a main court ticket will that only allow me to go to the main court or could I just go from that court to the outer courts as well since I bought the higher priced tickets?

Thanks!

If you buy a Main Court ticket you can go everywhere but Court 1. Similarly, if you buy a Court 1 ticket you can go everywhere but the Main Court. Or at least that's how it's been the past couple of years. Top seeds normally don't play til Wednesday. Monday is quite a slow day, though it's quite a good day to watch the top players practicing. Have no idea how long you're going for, or what you want to see, but if it were me, I would buy a Main Court ticket for Wednesday where you'd be assured of seeing at least two of the top players in singles action, plus probably a grounds pass for Monday, so you can wander around the outside courts and watch practice. Quite often the top players play doubles on the outside courts in the early evening on Monday (and Tuesday) too.

You can also usually buy tickets on the day if you start to queue at about 8.00am. They have returns most days, so you can wait until you know the OOP. Hope that helped.

Thanks. What you wrote is extremely helpful.

I'm kind of bummed because I'm leaving London on 6/8, so I literally can only go for 6/7. Sounds like I shouldn't go for the highest tier if there isn't going to be anything going on in the main court.

LOL - US dates confuse me Took me ages to work out why you wanted Queens tickets when you weren't coming here til July or August Anyway - I digress Well assuming the 7th June is the Monday, there will be matches on Centre Court, but just not the top seeds. Still some pretty good tennis though - in past years I have seen Tipsarevic, Baghdatis, del Potro (admittedly before he was so high ranked), and Thomas Johansson play there on a Monday. So I guess it just depends on your personal preference. Have fun anyway.

Yeah we go MM/DD/YYYY where everyone else goes DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY/MM/DD which would make sense except for that it's the US and we're too accustomed to doing things a certain way. Don't even get me started on the nonsense of still using imperial measurements instead of metric.

Re: Who's Going?

Hiya Guys,
I hope I can trouble you for some advice, I have applied for tickets and been offered Court One on Thursday, here's my situation and I'll be travelling from Ireland, it'll be my first ever event and I have lapsed into being a more casual watcher recently, If I'm going to travel all the way I would really like to see a big name.
Do you think I'd have any chance?
All advice greatly accpeted, thanks guys...

Re: Who's Going?

I've got tickets for Wednesday on Court 1.
I'm a bit relieved cos they've really jacked up the price of Centre Court tickets this year

Re: Who's Going?

I still haven't found out whether I've got tickets or not, even though it says we should hear by the end of the week beginning the 22nd.

I fear that doesn't bode well
