Re: Doubles Tennis Tipping (DTT) - Estoril - Monday Deadline 14pm CEST! Qualifying ON

Monday Interview

We caught up with Gavnich77 in our Daily Interview Session...

Iím hoping for a couple of wins here, a QF would be good...

Q: Gavnich77, welcome to Estoril. How are you?

I am fine and ready to play in Estoril.

Q: Last year you won the tournament partnering Gallina from Argentina. What does it mean to you to come back to Estoril?

Itís always great to come back and try to defend a title. Gallina is taking a break from DTT at the moment so Iím here playing with Eddy DoubleD. Hopefully, we can do as well as I did last year. It will be tough though as there are some great doubles teams competing here.

Q: You arrived from Barcelona yesterday. How do you feel and what can you say about the conditions?

Well, it was only a short journey from Barcelona to Estoril so I think the conditions will be quite similar. The weatherís a bit cooler than normal for this time of year so I think that suits me coming from the UK

Q: We've had lots of discussions about how fast or slow the courts are. What is your first impression about Estoril?

My first impressions are good, the conditions are ok, maybe a bit slower than I normally like but Iíll try to adapt.

Q: You've had a difficult start into the clay season suffering first round exits in Casablanca, Monte Carlo and Barcelona. What do you expect from this week or what is your goal for this tournament?

Iím hoping for a couple of wins here, a QF would be good for my confidence as we head towards Roland Garros. I think I played well last week and took an early lead but wasnít able to close the match out.

Q: You practiced twice yesterday. In the morning you had a hit with jervisjames and now your just coming from a session with Boarder35m. What did you work on?

I was working on tactics, I wonít tell you exactly what but itís always useful to see how other players approach things.

Q: What are you trying to improve in order to get back in shape?

Iím always looking to improve all aspects of my game, you can always improve no matter how good you think you are but I think I need to maybe trust my instincts a bit more.

Q: Madrid is coming up next week, the first Masters 1000 played on clay this year. Actually it's not played on red clay - it's blue clay. How was your reaction when you first heard of that?

Iím not a fan of it to be honest, what next? Blue grass?

Q: You've been to Estoril several times, tell us what you like and what you dislike about the place.

Itís quite a relaxed atmosphere here and itís a great place to work on aspects of your game before May with 2 Clay Masters and a Grand Slam. The schedule here is a bit hectic though.

Q: The Players Party will take place on Tuesday. It's going to be a beach party... You already looking forward to that night?

Definitely, itís always a great night. The DTT ďfamilyĒ is quite a close knit group so it should be a great atmosphere.

Q: What do you expect from the tournament manager this week?

Perfection, and Iím sure heíll achieve it. Iíve heard heís a great manager.

Thank you very much and Good Luck
