he wasn't there in 2009 : I guess Truc speaks about 2008 for Ancic.

I guess Gasquet would get it if he asks, considering Monte-Carlo is nearly France, and he's got a good past here.

Anyway, Ljubicic being in the entry-list, and Safin being away from the Tour, Nalbandian using his protected ranking, there would be enough WC for Gasquet and Ancic.

But I'm not sure at all that Gasquet would ask for one : he's in the entry-list for Casablanca the week before, and Barcelona next week. And he seems to avoid French tournaments recently

He's had a very strange way of dealing with entry-lists recently : he was on the entry-lists of all South-American tournaments, and still in Sunrise this week

Well Pere Riba does the same (and even worse : he's nearly not missed a week last year ) but I didn't know that Gasquet had become a journeyman

useless old guy

Monte Carlo is certainly not a tournament he would want to avoid. If there is one place apart from Wimbledon where he has really great memories it is MC. That's at least how I percieve it. So I expect him to be there. As for his recent scheduling, this is

it's not completely off topic : he has to make some choice (doesn't look as if he's made some recently anyway )

See Federer also has big memories in Monte-Carlo but yet chose to avoid it

Anyway, I made a mistake : he's not in the entry-list for Roma

Ljubicic could be a top 8 seed with a bye if he wins today.

Funny that Ljubicic and Ferrero were both asking for WCs here last year and now they're fighting for the 8th seed.

From Montecarlo press conference

Quote:
Even if the Swiss Roger Federer and the Scot Andy Murray have not yet signed up for the moment, the Monegasque organisers remain confident.

“Andy preferred to have a few more days before finalising his clay programme. Whereas for Roger, a surprise as in 2009 is not to be ruled out! We’ll be keeping Wild Cards for them until the last moment!”

I guess being top 4 players they've earned it. Still annoys me they can do that though.

Shame the organizers have no local players to give WCs to.

Any chances on a WC for Gaudio?

Would much rather see Ancic, Gaudio and Moya get WCs than Federer or Murray.

So can Ljubicic still play here? How bad's the back?

Has Lisnard retired?

When I'm good, I'm very good...but when I'm bad, I'm better

No, but he had hip surgery a few months ago, no idea when he will be back.
They can give the wild-card to Balleret if Lisnard isn't ready yet, he's already gotten it once when Lisnard couldn't play.
