Re: Good news: David is IN for If Stockholm Open 250, Sweden, October 17-23, 2011

translation from Sweedish:

Wild card till Tomic
18-year-old Australian Bernard Tomic was on Friday the third wild cardet to this year's If Stockholm Open.
David Nalbandian got a free pass yesterday, but was ultimately incorporated into the main competition on the merits.

- Bernard is one of the young players who have really had an impact this year. It feels great to be able to give one of our wild cards to one of the world's largest tennis hope for the future, says Thomas Johansson.

Tomic, who is ranked 49: th in the world this week, got its big break last summer when he went to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, for example by defeating Robin Soderling.

Stockholm, Sweden
by ATP Staff | 18.10.2011

Former World No. 3 David Nalbandian saved two match points in the second set tie-break before
prevailing against Belgian Xavier Malisse 4-6, 7-6(6), 7-6(3) on Tuesday at the If Stockholm Open.

Nalbandian, who won this ATP World Tour 250 tournament on his only previous visit in 2008,
secured a 2-0 lead to start the third set but was unable to serve out the match at 5-4
as Malisse broke back. The Argentine claimed the victory after two hours and 41 minutes,

Nalbandian after win of first match

Tuesday's games offered on game three of If Stockholm Open winner and two former finalists. The highlight was the match between David Nalbandian and Xavier Malisse in which Argentine rescued after two match balls and two hours and 41 minutes of play won with 4-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Tuesday's evening shift began with a smooth, well-played game between the 2008 If Stockholm Open champion David Nalbandian and Xavier Malisse. Belgian Malisse won the first set with 6-4 but lost since the second by 6-7. When Nalbandian had a chance to serve the home match in the third game Malisse managed to break his serve and the set had to be decided in the tiebreak. But even there was Nalbandian strongest and stood as the final victor after more than two and a half hour of play.

- It was a tough match, I tried to play aggressive and I'm glad I could win, Nalbandian said after the match.
