Is there a more reactionary set of fans than tennis fans?

Del Potro reaches his first final of any significance since the US Open 2009 and he's now going to win multiple majors.

Rafa wins a tournament and becomes the best there has ever been.

Janowicz reaches a Masters final and is going to dominate tennis.

Goffin wins a couple of rounds at RG and is now a huge talent.

What other ridiculous statements have there been recently?

Bandwagoning was always strong on this forum, some mug has a fluke run and he's now the new GOAT. The latest one was Gulbis.

This is the best one.

Another golden one is Federer destroying a mug and suddenly peak Federer is back.

I think a large amount of these posts are trolling. But I agree Tennis does have largely reactionary fans. I guess it's an easy sport to do it with.

Re: Is there a more reactionary set of fans than tennis fans?

I think it's more that internet tennis fanboys are reactionary. Also that since there's so little young talent breaking through recently, people build up anyone who seems the least bit promising. Nadal's comeback is a special case; nobody really knew what to expect from him and his sudden success is a bit shocking even with avoiding Djokovic/Murray/healthy Fed. People who don't hate him like seeing him play well as it forces everyone else to raise their own levels.

Agassi | Nadal
Almagro | Coria | Ferrer | Haas | Nalbandian | Nishikori | Robredo | Wawrinka
Bautista Agut | Bellucci | Blake | Dimitrov | Dodig | Ferrero | Fognini | Gasquet | Hewitt | Kohlschreiber | Murray | Raonic | Rosol | Seppi | Tsonga | Tursunov | Verdasco

Re: Is there a more reactionary set of fans than tennis fans?

I'd say it's prevalent in all sports, since the media tends to drive the story arcs and favor one player over the other to create hype and buzz around the sport (of which they themselves benefit). Of course tennis might be one where this effect is larger among followers since the players actually tend to find form and confidence, thus enabling some great runs. In a team sport it would probably be harder, though far from impossible.

Food for thought:

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal
