Re: Too many gifs?

If they are used sparingly, it's fine. But some people can't seem to make a post without one.

“There’s so many athletes, tennis players around the world,” he continued, trying to put his life into some kind of perspective, “they want to be the best in what they do. They want to succeed. Many of them, they don’t succeed in the end. I’m fortunate to have this opportunity and succeed.”

Re: Too many gifs?

Those 'bye bitch' gifs need to fuck off back to WTA world, they have no business constantly being spammed on here, mostly by the same poster.

Juan Martin Del Potro

David Ferrer - Tommy Haas - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

Andy Roddick - Juan Carlos Ferrero - Mardy Fish

I don't care except when it's from Hian, in which case it's just fucking annoying.

Oh please.

Damn, people in this forum LOVE to bitch about things, my God.

They are moving pictures, ffs, who cares? Why curtail freedom of expression?

Re: Too many gifs?

It can be somewhat annoying but not as annoying as people with huge signatures that spam threads or the live commentary

Mo is unsure.

Will Federer regain the #1 spot and break Sampras's record for most weeks at the top?

Roger // Rafa // Raonic // Söderling // Goffin // Ivo // Wawrinka // Baker // Delpo

Re: Too many gifs?

Gifs isn't that much of a problem tbh.

It's the stupid posts made by the 'tards of all players which are degrading this site.

I propose a compulsory tennis IQ test to be done by each member every 6 months to make sure that we at least meet the minimum number required for a normal human.

If you fail, then a one year ban.

MTF looks bad enough with the regular posts from Nadaltards and Noletards, these gifs make the whole forum look stupider than it is. So I say at least no gifs allowed in GM. Most potential new user would be looking at those pages to start with, so I guess they would expect tennis discussions and some level of trolling (these are internet forums after all). But Disney gifs, bitch please gifs used ad nauseam would probably turn off them.

So I was asked by a mod what I would do about it. I propose 2 options:

A- No gifs but in the .gif thread.

B- No gifs in GM.

Of course, I support option A. It is the senseful decision. This will no doubt boost my yet to be successful future mod ambitions.
The "Gif Thread" ?? That's for people to showcase gifs -- "hey, look what I just made" or "look what I just found on the internet." The gifs you're complaining about are being used to supplement commentary (or they are the commentary). No one's going to go to the "gif thread" to post the "bye bitch" gif after a Nadal loss; the point is to post it in the match thread. (Whether you think these animations are a good or bad form of commentary is a separate issue, and again, a completely subjective matter of taste.)

This was your argument in the "ban the Castle lingo" thread, too. I know you're Canadian and we're supposed to be obsessed about not offending people and all that crap, but really I think you're wasting a lot of time and energy on this "Oh, heavens! What will people think?" attitude. Worrying about what people will think is pointless; you can't please everyone all the time. Just a waste of anyone's energy to be so concerned with maintaining some kind of 'image'. Unless you're a stakeholder in this website, it should be of no concern to you. I know I'm not losing any sleep over it.
