Do French differentiate ethnically pure Frenchmen and Afro guys?

I am curious about whether French people are more supportive to 100% ethnic Frenchmen compared to guys who've grown up in France but their predecessors are from Afrika? (Monflis, Tsonga)

Re: Do French differentiate ethnically pure Frenchmen and Afro guys?

Do you mean white vs black, or really ethnically pure frenchmen not including people such as Bartoli (italian surname), Di Pasquale (italian surname), Teixeira (portuguese surname)etc

I miss: Ivan Lendl, Korda, Novak, Bruguera, Rios, Kucera, Courier, Mantilla, Costa, Santoro and Ferreira.

Good luck to:

Gaudio, Murray, Florian Mayer, Chela, Nalbandian, Radek Stepanek, Volandri, Youzhny and Verdasco.

I am mainly referring to Afro guys since they are physically different and we all know how delicate the issue of the "colour difference" used to be in the whole world. So, i kinda mean "black vs white". But this is not a racistic topic, don't get me wrong. This is just about slight differences and perceptions of French fans.

Listen to the crowd when Monfils was beating Ferrer in that epic, there's your answer.

Re: Do French differentiate ethnically pure Frenchmen and Afro guys?

I think the OP has in mind the posts of one French poster (sadly I forgot the nickname) who was making racist allegations at times.

MTF is generally a cosmopolitan and PC place (which is good as this way people from so different countries can post together) but perhaps not really a place for a serious discussion. You'd need French sociologists for that

Obviously Monfils will be getting support in his epic matches at RG or in Paris, will be loved when he is winning, but the question is would people cuss at his race as an explanation for his clowning and losing. Sadly the race induced riots in France show it's not a paradise and I think asking such a question was justified. But there won't be any answer to that.

I remember that Murrayometer someone posted; it basically watches how much Murray is British when he wins and Scottish when he loses.

At the football stadiums in Europe you can hear "we lost because that monkey couldn't score." It doesn't matter this "monkey" scored in the previous 10 matches and was the best player in the team of white.

While doing research for writing an article on Wozniacki I've read opinions of Scandinavian marketing specialists Wozniacki was missing out on really big advertising contracts because of her surname which doesn't sound Scandinavian, while worldwide a Scandinavian surname brings luxury and reliability to mind.

Racist? At its prime. But probably based on something.

i wouldn't be surprised if Andrea Petkovic, given her potential, were the next female German chancellor.

Absolutely correct. In fact, racial integration in France, speaking both historically and contemporarily, could be fairly characterized as "100% seamless."

Re: Do French differentiate ethnically pure Frenchmen and Afro guys?

So I'm curious: how are blacks treated in the Balkans?

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

As this area doesn't attract immigrants from the whole world, there's no many of them and no naturalized black people. Just some rare people on a bussiness trip or something like that. But I can tell you they are treated like any other foreign people. No animosity at all.

Re: Do French differentiate ethnically pure Frenchmen and Afro guys?

Monfils and a few others are blacks from West Indies, a french territory for ages. They are born french ! Tsonga's father comes from Africa but he's mother is white and they are both teachers, he's not the poor migrant.

Many others french stars in sport have indeed a white mother (Tsonga, the Noah, Boris Diaw, Tony Parker, Stephane Diagana, Serge Blanco, ...) with a black father. It just proves mixity is the best choise to have a champion in your family.
