I think the OP has in mind the posts of one French poster (sadly I forgot the nickname) who was making racist allegations at times.
MTF is generally a cosmopolitan and PC place (which is good as this way people from so different countries can post together) but perhaps not really a place for a serious discussion. You'd need French sociologists for that
Obviously Monfils will be getting support in his epic matches at RG or in Paris, will be loved when he is winning, but the question is would people cuss at his race as an explanation for his clowning and losing. Sadly the race induced riots in France show it's not a paradise and I think asking such a question was justified. But there won't be any answer to that.
I remember that Murrayometer someone posted; it basically watches how much Murray is British when he wins and Scottish when he loses.
At the football stadiums in Europe you can hear "we lost because that monkey couldn't score." It doesn't matter this "monkey" scored in the previous 10 matches and was the best player in the team of white.
While doing research for writing an article on Wozniacki I've read opinions of Scandinavian marketing specialists Wozniacki was missing out on really big advertising contracts because of her surname which doesn't sound Scandinavian, while worldwide a Scandinavian surname brings luxury and reliability to mind.
Racist? At its prime. But probably based on something.
