richest tennis player families

So guys, i was wondering which tennis players (from any decade), have come from extremely wealthy families.

Ernests gulbis is an obvious one... but what about someone like safin, or grigor dimitrov, or even murray?

Tennis is an expensive sport, 80% of the players come from rich families. He is probably talking about multi millionaire people. Like OP said, Gulbis is one. I think Djokovic isnt poor too.

Djoker actually comes from a poor family. They couldn't support his tennis career and he couldn't afford a coach, thus he was considering changing to British citizenship at one point in order to get more financial support. Then he made a breakthrough and made enough money for a full time coach and other expenses, so he stayed Serbian.

wouldn't call him a 'big shot businessman' but nadal's family is actually quite wealthy. rafael's dad had (still has) a profitable family business -a windows company and a restaurant if i rememeber correctly.

Re: richest tennis player families

Yes, Gulbis comes from a rich family. I still think Djokovic might be rich. His parents apparently own a restaurant, and he has 2 or 3 brothers, which indicates that they COULD support the family. Nadal doesnt really seem rich to me, just financially secure. Federer is pretty much the same. Another "rich" person who comes to mind is Tomic. He seems to be able to pay the entrance fee to every challenger and any ATP tournament he wants even without a wildcard. Without winning substantial money, he is still able to enter.

djoker came from a well off family by serbian standards at the time. i wouldnt say he was poor but things were certainly not easy for him as a youngster. i think his family had to sell a lot of stuff to send their son to train in germany.

federer comes from a normal middle class family. his dad was a chemist working for a swiss company and his mom was a secretary of afrikaans origin working and living in johannesburg

Re: richest tennis player families

As far as I know Federer's family is upper middle class. His father is an accountant or something like that (not 100% sure). I am not sure whether he got any support from local tennis federations when he was young, though.

I know Nadal's early tennis expenses were entirely covered by his father because of some disagreement with Spanish tennis federation.

Edit: Ah, apparently I was wrong about Federer's father occupation.

Im not sure, but I think Fed comes from a middle-lower social class family. His parents apparently are only pharmaceutical agents or something, they dont have a business.

Aren't most tennis players from well-off families? It is traditionally a sport for the upper-class, hence why the only Africans in the sport are from another country (or white or Arabic), and there are few Asians in the sport.

His Dad's father was a professional basketball player as well and I would assume would make a fair amount of money. His Mum is an actress so I would assume the whole family is well off. In regards to Djokovic I heard he hasn't come from a wealthy family but I am not too sure. And Tomic is very wealthy so I have heard. However, as tennis is a fairly expensive sport to play with the cost of racquets, court hire, coaches, physio all the players would be fairly well off unless they received support from their country.
