Re: richest tennis player families

Painfully rich people have this tendency of getting dressed as hmm, tramps.

Asked why they do it they say it gives them the comfort zone.

I guess too much stress, too much thinking, too much pressure. You can't blame them. They can buy all the disgusted people

His dad was a football player who played in the Scottish 1st division and his mother was quite heavily involved in tennis before he and his brother started playing, so I guess they were fairly well off.

Andy Murray * Richard Gasquet * Fernando Gonzalez
Grigor Dimitrov * Andrey Kuznetsov

I don't where people have got the idea Djokovic came from a poor family, it is the complete opposite his family are quite rich.
Although I think Nadal has the richest his uncle was a millionaire footballer who played for Barcelona and Spain.

Berdych's family is not rich, perhaps middle class or lower middle class. His mother is a doctor but they are poorly paid in Czech Republic. His father is a railwayman.

LIKE: Stepanek, Youzhny, Stakhovsky, Raonic, Pouille || HATE: Nadal, Almagro, Monfils, Troicki, Simon, Tipsarevic

Rafael Nadal's uncle is Miguel Angel Nadal, a former captain and defender of both Barcelona and the Spanish national team. He was one of best paid players in Spain and not only he had the money to sponsor his nephew, as he also had the interest, as he was himself a former tennis regional champion when he was a kid. I don't know if Rafa needed his uncle's help during his teenage years, but if he needed, I'm pretty sure his uncle gladly helped him financially.

Wait a second, someone else said railway engineer so what is it? A common railway worker would be poor but an engineer in anything would most likely be well paid. Djokovic was middle class by Serbian standards but tennis is played at the level of British/American wealth. So basically, what is middle class in Serbia is dirt poor in countries like Britain when you start trying to fund tennis. It is well-known that Djokovic's family had to borrow money from all over the place including loan sharks. They lived in a tiny apartment in Belgrade for years(to cut costs) and his parents slept on the couch in the living room.I also read in an article that they got into Pilic's academy for a "special fee" because they ccouldn't afford quite the full thing.( They borrowed and risked so much that I think it's pretty safe to say that if Djokovic had failed to make it and breakthrough, they'd be in a pretty big funk right now with regards debt) Ivanovic was slightly more fortunate because a Swiss businessman, Dan Holzmann supported her in her early teens which no doubt helped ease some of the financial pressure

Not sure, I think he was just regular middle-class, but would it even matter? Doesn't the LTA fund everyting down to your toilet roll over there? Even more so for a talent like Murray would have been at the time...

Obviously they're millionaires now, I don't see your point

What I said in previous posts about the early years is all true, it was gotten from reliable sources, and other stuff his father had said while on serious chat shows in Serbia. They were middle class in Serbia(Serbian middle-calss does not equate to English middle-class) and could have led normal and comfortable lives in Serbia had it not been for the tennis but the tennis crippled them for those years until he broke through and now they're obviously rolling in the money after his success

Jamie did his training in London but Judy realised quick enough that the training was crap and just not good enough for a top flight professional so she chose to send Andy to the Spanish academy(she said all this herself in a newspaper interview btw)I don't know how much support the LTA gave, when he was in Spain, but considering they've spent thousands on no-hopers like Bogdanovic,James Ward, Daniel Evans, I doubt very much they were unwilling to help Andy, their biggest prospect by a country mile, and there most certainly would have been financial support before and after his Spanish years.

Andy's tweet after Serbia won D.Cup

Quote:
Amazing effort from serbia in davis cup, no funding, poor facilities but people with big hearts, work ethic and desire geat job
Doesn't sound to me like someone who had a lack of funding himself, he's clearly highlighting the difference between what happened there and the usual tennis countries like England, Spain, America etc.

Yes we know Nadal was rich(his Dad had those restaurants and window cleaning companies back then, uncle had been a professional Spanish footballer etc. and there also would have been support from the Spanish association, there was no Serbian tennis association, that's my point.

As for the Safin bit, Novak was also going to become British because of lack of funding, this was all played out for ages during 2006

There aren't many cause spoiled kids are not ambitious enough

I don't know any male player where both parents are university graduates. But I think Chanda Rubin's parents are graduates!?
