Contador's lawyers using Gasquet 's cocaine defense .. Nadal doesn't like it

http://sports.yahoo.com/sc/news?slug=ap-doping-contador. Gasquet has already a place in tennis history. The Gasquet defense

"Poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another" .. Madonna

Drooling after Schuettler, Bolelli, Volandri, Starace (short haired version), ToJo, Tursunov, Alves, Petzschner, Simon, Qureshi, Steve Johnson

Re: Contador's lawyers using Gasquet 's cocaine defense

heh.. maybe it'll get even more mileage now. According to this report, Spanish Civil Guard carried out Operacion Galgo, another large anti-doping operation - this time in Spanish athletics.

http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news...le_28241.shtml

It would sure be an odd way for Gasquet to help make tennis popular

"When I'm asked, how is it to be around Federer, and what is he really like, I always reply, "I wish people could meet him when cameras or an audience aren't around, as he is one of the nicest people I have ever met when stringing on tour. " -- drakulie

There is a huge difference, Gasquet was innocent. Only true idiots think otherwise.

Who did Contador kiss? Andy Schleck? I knew it!

Gasquet defense?
At least Gasquet will be remembered for something, right?

The fact that Gasquet even made it out of his cocaine troubles without a huge ban is ridiculous.
How can you be innocent when you obviously took cocaine? The kissing defense is ridiculous in my opinion.
I'm sorry, but Gasquet is lucky to be playing tennis on the tour right now, and he's also lucky he didn't get a huge suspension.

LET'S GO!!
SLAMS: 3 TITLES, 8 finals, 9 semi-finals, 8 quarter-finals...
WORLD TOUR FINALS: 1 TITLE, 3 semi-finals...
MASTERS: 14 TITLES, 7 finals, 12 semi-finals, 18 quarter-finals...
OLYMPICS: 2 gold medals, 1 silver...
DAVIS CUP: 1 TITLE, 1 semi-final, 1 quarter-final...
WORLD #1: 2 weeks and counting...
MATCH WIN/LOSS: 630-174...
TITLES: 44 and counting...

You of all people should like lenient bans.

I think that people have the right to use any defense they so choose. If they have the facts to back them up, then who are we to ridicule them? If it is indeed ridiculous, they will be caught.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

Because hair tests confirmed that Gasquet wasn't a cocaine user. Having a miniscule amount of unmetabolized cocaine in your bloodstream is hardly banworthy, IMO.

I know I have been banned a lot on here, but most was because of bad language.
I don't use bad language anymore or personally attack anyone anymore.

Gasquet had cocaine in his bloodstream. That should've resulted in a ban, no matter how small the amount of cocaine was.

Any amount of illegal substance found in the bloodstream, no matter how miniscule should result in some sort of ban.
That's just my opinion, and I think Gasquet is very lucky.

Ah, perhaps you are forgetting that he was banned. He was prevented from playing at RG and Wimbledon that year while the trials were being held. Once he was deemed innocent of any major fault, he was banned for those 3 odd months retroactively.

If at first you don't succeed, lower your standards.

I know that, three months is very light.
It may have been while they were deciding if he was innocent or not, but it should have been longer.
A six month ban is very light as well, but that would've sufficed.

No one who has any sort of illegal substance in their bloodstream, no matter how miniscule the amount is, should get away without a long ban.
This should be the same for all sports.

I don't condone drugs or other illegal activities, but in the case of sports they are unrelated. Smoking pot didn't improve Tim Lincecum's pitching, or Michael Phelp's swimming, so a ban would be extreme. To each their own, I suppose.

Any illegal drugs, no matter what they do, should not be tolerated in sport.
Any illegal drugs taken should result in a ban, without question.

You do realize how ridiculous that sounds, right? Alcohol used to be illegal in the United States, should Bill Tilden have been banned for a year because he had a beer?

Laws change, they aren't representative of cheating. The spirit of the law is what needs to be upheld; preventing cheating and unfair advantages over your opponents -- doing a line of coke so you can get some Miami poontang qualifies as neither.
