Re: Australasian Summer & Early Hard Season - Cheering/Scoring/News

His audio interview is up:
http://www.fft.fr/open-australie/2010/?ID=5840
He says it's not a surprise as he can't hit two shots in a row at the moment, his serve completely lets him down too, it usually is one of his big weapons, so the scoreline is not that amazing in his opinion. He hasn't managed to settle his game down since the beginning of the season.
He has no explanation. Physically he's perfectly fine, he even jokes about it, he says things really couldn't be better in that regard and one has to see the positives.
His game and his confidence have just completely vanished. He's lost control of all his shots. It has already happened to him when he was younger, he'll have to learn the lessons from this terrible Australian tourney and back to work now so it doesn't happen to him anymore.

A transcription here, easier for the non native speakers:

Aw Jim Looking forward to him working this out and getting back to form.

I blame his doubles partner At least with Gillou his singles matches were always better than his doubles

Re: Australasian Summer & Early Hard Season - Cheering/Scoring/News

Anyone else think that training thing he did last summer (forget when exactly) could be a factor? Forgive me if Im wrong because I dont know the whole thing about it but I remember after a break he came back playing quite horribly, he put it down to his training and that it would help him in the long term. Its probably not that but he hasnt been the same since.

Hmmm maybe...he hasn't won now since Basel, and its been patchy for months before that. 5 first round losses since Cincy, then improved a little for indoor - two or three rounds, and then nothing since Basel 2nd round.

I am trying to also think about the possibilities, and this is all I can come up with....pure speculation people

a) after winning his premier title, he took his foot of the gas a little?
b) he is injured?
c) he has reached a plateau with his team?
d) breaking up with Jenny affected his status quo?

Whatever the reason, his ranking is gonna plummet if this continues, all the hard graft from last year will need to be replicated, and I am starting to wonder whether opting for an extended hard season is preferable to hitting the clay early. Luckily (?) a lot of the tourneys he entered the field isn't so strong, so maybe some easy wins for confidence will help...well lets hope.

His voice in the interview was upsetting, very morose.

Come on Jeremy, you have support, we just wanna see you smile like you did in Stuttgart

I don't get this at all. Not against a player like Istomin. Oh well, I just hope Jérémy will find his game soon enough. I am glad to hear that he can sort of joke about it.

Him and Marc retired in the doubles trailing 5-1 in the first

Anyone know why?

Right hand injury (but it happened today, it has nothing to do with his singles match).

Re: Australasian Summer & Early Hard Season - Cheering/Scoring/News

DiP says that Jérémy was sick when he arrived in Melbourne, so maybe it also explains for a part the awful scoreline (but not his losing streak, his game apparently is a big mess anyway):

Re: Australasian Summer & Early Hard Season - Cheering/Scoring/News

That at least explains something, but now this injury again. Maybe some think off to think things over. Too bad it is for such a weak tournament as Johannesburg. Good opportunity to win some matches here...
