Re: 2009 Fall tournaments

OMG, what a terrible result. Against a clay challenger player, pfff. But it has to happen from next week, I don't have much confidence in it though...

Re: 2009 Fall tournaments

In L'Equipe:
Quote:
It says that Robert has a very unusual game, serving like Schalken and hitting his BH like Sluiter. He was out during one year and a half because of an hepatitis and is having his best season by the age of 29. Dying for a win, playing his home event there, he was the typical trap for Jérémy who had trouble coping with his "tournament favourite" status this week. Robert might not be very "glamour", but he has a talent for making the opponent play poorly, like De Chaunac who made beginner's mistakes against him on Thursday. Same in the 1st set yesterday, clearly won by Robert 6-3. Then a quick 6-2 for Jérémy in the 2nd set. But at 3-2 in the 3rd set, Jim started talking with the umpire, was dragging himself on the court, had to eat a bit. And it's impossible to play tennis "with one's mouth full." When he was serving to stay in the match at 5-4, he put himself in a difficult position with 2 DF. Robert took his 2nd MP: "The biggest win of my career". Jérémy: "I put myself too much under pressure in this tournament. I had a rough time here, but it will be a lesson to me. Such a loss makes me admire Federer and Nadal even more. They're expected to win in each event they play." Next up: St-Petersburg, where he will be less exposed. His mission: to avoid a 1st round exit for the 5th time in a row at ATP level.

Re: 2009 Fall tournaments

Jeremy. Yes, let's hope for at least getting past the 1st round in St. Petersburg! Well he starts against a Qualifier...

His half of the draw:

[8] ZEBALLOS, Horacio ARG - QUALIFIER
QUALIFIER - GINEPRI, Robby USA
GULBIS, Ernests LAT - MAYER, Florian GER
QUALIFIER - [4] CHARDY, Jeremy FRA

[7] CUEVAS, Paulo URU - KUNITSYN, Igor RUS
[WC] ELGIN, Michail RUS - [SE] KUKUSHKIN, Mikhail KAZ
FOGNINI, Fabio ITA - [SE] MARCHENKO, Illya UKR

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Re: 2009 Fall tournaments

Match with Gulbis will be key, if he wins that, he can make it to the final in this draw, it's very weak.

Re: 2009 Fall tournaments

Jeremy and Richie won their doubles match 6-2 7-6, and Jeremy is third on court 1 tomorrow vs. Petru Alexandru Luncanu. Never heard of him.
