I'm so excited for Simone!!!
The tennis is starting to come back and his confidence is starting to rise. He did great in pressurized situations yesterday when this past year, he would have choked in those moments. He played a great match and hit the ball with authority.
Simone has made R3 of Wimbledon before, he beat Gonzalez in 2008 to get there. He can play on grass and took advantage of the draw he got. I can't see him beating Gasquet but this has been a great week regardless for Simone, and one which he can build on.

Both of Simo's best slam performances have come at Wimbledon now. His flowing strokes benefit from the (as everyone continues to point out) slowing grass courts and his serve and forehand are flat enough to be viable weapons on the surface. It's nice that he's risen to the occasion at RG and Wimbledon, that challenger win seems to have done a lot of good for his confidence.
Anyways, you were right about Wawrinka but I hope you're wrong this time.
I tend to agree though; it's hard to bet against a reasonably in-form Gasquet on this surface, especially given their H2H record.
Simone is back inside the top 100 after this win, at 87 if I've added correctly. 4 Italians in the top 100.
