Youngest player to have an ATP ranking point?

Does anyone know who is the youngest player to have a ranking point?

The youngest I know of is Cheong-Eui Kim, who reached the semifinals of a Satellite in Pakistan at the age of 14 years and 5 months.

I don't know but it could be Aaron Krickstein. He was No. 94 at the end of 1983 when he was only 16.
Unfortunately on www.itftennis.com database is only for active players, so it's difficult to check out Krickstein's achievement from the year 1981

Re: Youngest player to have an ATP ranking point?

I've just seen an interview at TV with Marcelo Saliola, and they say he, in 1987, beated the record of Borg, becoming the youngest player to have an ATP point (he was14 years and 3 months). I don't know if he still is the owner of the record. I've made a quick search and in English couldn't find anything interesting, but in Portuguese I've found two sites with this information

http://www.kindernet.com.br/v3/Entid...o&idTexto=1393

http://www.simposiodetenis.com.br/palestrantes.asp (go to Marcelo Saliola)

but they even descript the tournament

I don't know if he still remains/hold this record.

He said in the interview he had some troubles about being precocious.

I think there is a difference of first ATP point and ATP tournaments points(those 300K +). I would like to know about every level of tournament

According to atptennis.com he appeared for the first time on ATP ranking when he was 14.4 - 16th May 1988 at No. 751. He defeated one week earlier in Challenger (Itu-Sao Paulo) Hugo Chapacu (PAR) 6-4 6-2...

Re: Youngest player to have an ATP ranking point?

Ooops, the tournament was in 1988

14.4 might means 14 years and a 40% of an year (4,8 months, or 4 months and 24 days)
He was born in 12/31/1973. It's really not like the 2nd link I posted says(14 y3m) , and the first just says 14 years old (but mentions the correct year, 1988, not like the first).

Voo, I have to say I love the stats you bring (I know I already did it, but now it becomes public). Thanks!

Well, chapa means "get high" and cu, "ass"

If you come to Brazil and go to a farm, be careful to no say (auf Deutsch):
"Ich habe die Kuh angebunden aber die Kuh war nicht mehr da!"
People may think can understand you and probably won't like! And it's not about missing a cow...

OK, too enough off topic!
