Thank you

I don't know how they did, because for even older players like Björn Borg they have something (17-17) or even Arthur Ashe

Re: Tie-break's stuff

I have a question: I read somewhere that the 28 minute tie-break between Djokovic and Dolgopolov at the US Open was the longest tie-break ever timewise. Is that true? Is there actually any data about this??

Re: Tie-break's stuff

^ I don't think so because there were 30-point tie-breaks played with two softer baselines than D'Joke and Dog. Montanes and Zib for example played a 32-point tie-break on clay, admittedly Montanes serves with intensive pace, but I can easily imagine there were longer rallies.

Re: Tie-break's stuff

ATP says "205" but I believe you because ATP isn't 100% credible, especially in the tie-break issue, after some changes in the system they give complete bullshit considering number of tie-breaks played by players connected mainly to the decades before 1990's

They list Sampras as having only 274 tiebreak wins, I actually counted them up on his playing activity page to check and of course they were way out.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

They count tie-breaks to player's activity without tie-breaks with exact scoreline, so before 1991

First tie break in Lu vs Karlović today is 7-3, not 8-6

Re: Tie-break's stuff

I have Sampras at 328-197, not 328-194. I got my data from ATP, though, so I assume they are incorrect. Can anyone tell me which years are wrong? I have:

won lost year
6 8 1988
6 5 1989
26 14 1990
16 13 1991
37 18 1992
29 22 1993
29 11 1994
23 21 1995
25 18 1996
17 14 1997
28 12 1998
17 6 1999
27 9 2000
26 12 2001
16 14 2002

Total 328-197 (0,625)

Re: Tie-break's stuff

Litotes, the difference is a consequence of a wrong assumption. In 1988 Sampras lost 5 tie-breaks, not 8. His three additional lost tie-breaks came from Challengers (Mohr 6-7 4-6, Pereira 6-7 6-7). Challengers and lower levels aren't included to official stats.
