Today, Thomas Johansson hitted 33 against Nalbandian in DC to win 6-7(3), 7-6(2), 6-2, 7-6(0).

Yep, ToJo has served for the first time at least 30 aces. His previous personal record was 25 aces against Christophe Rochus at Roland Garros 2006 (6-3 7-5 4-6 4-6 2-6)

I think that served 30 aces in one match is also a good achievement. Some big server like Mirnyi or Dent have never crossed 30 aces in one match so far.
Classic S&Vs usually hit less aces because they can't simply go for flat bombs, as the returns come pretty heavy at them too. They play more angled serves, aiming to dislocate the returner for the volley.

You're right but anyway it's strange that Mirnyi has never served at least 30 aces He could serve 20 aces in two sets against Salunier (7-5 6-4), so he should serve more than 30 aces in five-setters at least a couple times. Mirnyi played many five-setters on the hard/grass courts... Strangely enough his personal-best come from three set match against Wessels in San Jose - 29 aces (Mirnyi won 6-7 7-6 6-3).

Ljubo is 8-2 when serving 30 or more aces.

^ And two of these wins he notched when he played three-setters against Fat Dave. A five-setter Ljubo vs. Fat Dave and Ljubo is serving more than 40 aces for the first time in career

Stats aren't available for DC matches though, unless I'm mistaken. Surely that match with Safin back in 2004 which Mirnyi won 7-6, 7-6, 1-6, 4-6, 11-9 got him over the 30-ace count?

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

I was following that match "live" on a scoreboard.
I don't remember well, but I guess Safin was better in aces 33-24.

Mirnyi seems to hit more well-places serves toward the end of the matches, instead of going for the aces. Don't ask me why that, I just feel this pattern more often than not. He certainly has the capability of doing that, he's a great server.

Wow, this is really strange but also a very good proof for "haters" that Ljubicic isn't only a "service player". Apparently Ljubo likes serving aces against Fat Dave on indoor
