Entry System

Hi all! You know what? I just understood that I don't understand how Entry System works! I understand how ATP Champions race is running (players are playing tournaments, so they are getting points) but I can't get how players get points on Entry System. Could you help me please?

Entry system points are Champ Race points x5

but they also have points for Challengers/Satellite events too.
otherwise new players who cant play ATP Tour events would never get a ranking and be able to play events without a WC.

Entry system points are like WTA ranks ( rolling 52 week)
points earned from that week a year ago drop off replaced by the points earned (if any) for same week in the following year.

here's the points table
http://stevegtennis.com/entrypoints.txt

The Champs Race is useless and meaningless until end of Paris TMS.

What about entry Ranking of 2/3/2003. There was Milan ATP this year and last years points should have been droped out.

However Ferrero earned 15 poin't last year with his 2nd round fall In Milan ATP. He had week 5 3085 point but week 6 still 3085. Why did'n he lost those 15 points. Ferrero didn't played week 5 at all.
???

Federer was in the final in Milan last year and lost the game. Points from $400 000 tournament are in that case 120. This week he have 60 points less that last week even he did't take part in any tournament last week?

There are lost of others as well. Make no sense to me. Can somebody clear this one please?

Yes it's 18th rule. Only 18 best results are counted.
Thanks Steve!

Re: Entry System

do players get points if they have a bye first round then lose second?

Séb Grosjean ; Arnaud Clément ; Guillermo Coria; Marcos Baghdatis; Jo Jo Tsonga
Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick are arrogant pigs

Re: Entry System

From what I have seen, they receive champions race points, and since entry = 5 x champ, then they must receive points if the lose in the second round while receiving a bye in the first

Re: Entry System

But if they lose in 2nd round, they receive only first round points (Usually 5 entry points and 1 race point).

I'm getting the more and more interested in men's tennis. Do you have somewhere just say a site like Wtatour since 96. Or where can you check out how many points players have to defend this week. Atp site?
