Grand Slam Wooden Spoon Winners

This isn't a useful stat in any way, shape or form - just a little bit of fun

Looking here at the players who are at the bottom of the chain of 7 losses in Grand Slam main draws since 1990 (i.e. the player in each slam who lost to the player who lost to the player who lost to the player who lost to the player who lost to the player who lost to the player who lost to the eventual champion!)

Credit to @bry17may for completing this list backwards to the start of the Open Era.

2011 RG Brands.

Probably one of the most accurate since he was the weakest player on the draw

Re: Grand Slam Wooden Spoon Winners

Fun idea! So many great things posted here before I registered.

Marat Safin must be unique. A wooden spoon in USO 2004 and then a win in the very next slam. He is also the only one on the list to have achieved both in the same tournament. Though I believe I read somewhere McEnroe once got a wooden spoon in Wimbledon.

Re: Grand Slam Wooden Spoon Winners

This US Open it will be either Karlovic (if Djokovic wins) or Kukushkin (if Murray wins).

I support Federer, Murray, Karlovic, Nishikori and some others.
