Re: Playing to seeds in Masters Series events - Cincinnati 2011

No changes this week: 2 out of 8 top seeds in the QFs is a Shanghai event record, but not a tournament record, as it is behind Stuttgart 1997.

Re: Playing to seeds in Masters Series events - Shanghai 2011

This was the 104th final without a top 2 seed, the 14th in Paris, tying it with Canada for the most.

This event did set a new Paris record for top 8 seeds into the QFs, with 6 of the 8 making it, surpassing the previous best of 5.

Re: Playing to seeds in Masters Series events - 2011 Complete!

For the fourth time in five years, and the sixth overall, three of the top four seeds made the semifinals of Indian Wells, with only Andy Murray, who lost first round, missing out.

A similar thing happened in Miami, with three of the top four making the semifinals for the third time in event history, with Federer being the odd man out this time.

The 20th ever #1 v. #2 masters final was also the fourth such matchup in Monte Carlo.

Re: Playing to seeds in Masters Series events - 2012 MC

Madrid's 14 of the top 16 players making the third round tied the best all time, which came in Paris 2009.

It also featured the 105th final without a top-2 seed, and the 14th such final in the event's history, tying it with Paris and Canada.

Rome saw the 23rd 1 v. 2 final, and the third at the event ('06, '11).
It also tied three other event records; the three of top four in the semifinals also tied an event record, occurring for a fifth time, and third in the past four seasons. The six top-eight quarterfinalists equalled Rome '93, and the 12 top-16 players in R3 equalled Rome '90.
