Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

The idea, proposed by Silverwhite in the Roland Garros PYW first round thread is as follows; the first few rounds of a grand slam event are split up into two halves of the draw to make the work of updting scores less for the likes of the brilliant Scythepro ( ).

If the other PYW admins agree with me I think this poll can be definitive, should we split up the draw and if so for how many rounds?

I think we should split it up into two for the first two rounds of grand slams. After all, by the third round there are only 16 matches and in my opinion that isn't too much work. I'm happy to do updates for that many matches anyway.

Re: Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

I agree Stebs. First 2 rounds require a lot of work when updating scores and splitting the draw is a good idea.

Well, the idea came from Silverwhite but I think he had the idea of having it fron the 1st to 4th rounds. I really don't think it's needed in the 4th and 3rd rounds though.

The poll has no time limit but whichever option is winning at 10pm British time will be chosen. Is that okay?

Re: Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

NyGel has said that he would prefer to not split the rounds. I still think maybe we should do it but for this tournament just have the one thread for each round.

NO. There aren't many voters.

Also, opening a new voting thread without finishing the other will make ppl to confuse and think that the other part is finished.

This is used at WTA Forum, but they have x10 voters than us. Every PYW round is finished in 1 hour there, here it take us 2 days to finish one.

Re: Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

There's plenty of time for the matches to finish Nygel. R3 starts on Friday right? We can do R2 top half tomorrow and R2 bottom half on Wednesday.

Re: Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

I think we should not implement the use of split draws in this tournament even if we do use it.

Re: Splitting up Grand Slam opening rounds

So what are we going to do about RG R2? Run the game just like before and try splitting draws at Wimbledon?
