Re: ~*~Mohamed Lahyani Appreciation Society~*~

Hello Mr. Mo Socialites,

Watching Mo in China I recalled this forum and the chat I had with one of the membranes (female for member):I think it was Ileana. So I want to share a meeting I had with your idol at Roland Garros in '08.
Mr. Mo was on the grounds and since the FO is very fan friendly, I stopped him for an autograph and picture.
He was very affable, even on the syrupy side, but maybe I'm too harsh here. I asked him what is he going to umpire next and he said a doubles match on court 7 and he grimaced as he mentioned it, as if saying: 'I'm too big a character to umpire on court 7".

But if you know RG, no. 7 is pretty decent, with stands on all four sides. It was Santoro/Giquel vs Devilder/OtherFrenchie. Very entertaining, ended 7-6 7-6 and the Magician was cool as always.

Well, before the match and at the end Mr. Mo was happy to chat with me, a nobody, for more than a few minutes.
One of the exchanges:
"Mr. Mo, you're a big hit with the ladies on the interweb ..."
"Yes ? Which site?"
"Men's tennis forums ..."
Here he looked disappointed, but I could not remember to quote 'The Appreciation Society' (by the way, it sounds very Victorian)
"Please, a smile for the ladies on Men's Tennis Forums".

And he did smile indeed, again, a bit syrupy for my taste, but I guess this is his biggest appeal with that half of the gender table.

Why was he not umpiring on the N. American hard courts this summer ?
