Well, not much to be said about that one. Murray did what he had to do and in great fashion. Chardy got a few chances in the second set to get back on serve, but some unwelcome mistake had him lost the match. I was surprised how Montreal people love Murray and also happily surprise of how nice he was. I always thouhgt of Murray as a British ''snobinard'' taking care of his person only. Guess I was wrong . Anyways, Murray will now be facing the winner of the Monfils/JCF match. Whoever the winner of that encounter is, Murray will have to take care if he wants to make the semis and get a shot at the ''GOAT''.
Match 2: Novak Djokovic def Peter Polansky 7-6 6-4
Djokovic is very the BIG THING in Montreal after Nadal and Federer. He is loved by all types of people. Old, Young, Tennis Fans, etc. Mostly known for some of his impersonations, Novak conquered Montreal's heart two years ago deafeating the GOAT. No need to specify that the crowd was very divided. Hopefully, waiting for the heavy rain to stop was worth it, because we were handed a great quality match, in which Polansky showed some signs of greatness, while Djokovic seemed Rusty and Affected by a deep cold. Hopefully, Djoko will get better. I'm really looking forward to the Roddick-Djokovic Quarterfinal! If Peter gets a little more regularuty on his groundies, he can clearly become some TOP 50 .
Match Of The Day: Roger Federer def Frederic Niemeyer (WC) 7-6 6-4
Wow what a match that was. It was short indeed, but soooo Intense! With a fully loaded Stadium, (probably the first time ever in ATP history for a second round match ), Frederic proved once against he had nothing to envy to the great players of this selective world. Not only did Fred matched Rogers power. He overpowered him at some points . This match was great also for the emotional charge in the air. It was in fact Niemeyer's last career match. When asked after the match if he had seen the poster citing '' Non à la Retraite'', Niemeyer said: '' No doubt I'm not coming back . I love what I did, but now it's time for me to be a Dad. . Fred walked off the court wearing a Habs shirt under the crowds amazing cheers. On t'aime Fred et Bonne Chance dans la Vie .
