Re: Wimbledon Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated June 13, 2009)

Melzer plans to fly to England on Friday. He is being treated for his back problem and will decide whether to play or not once he is in England. I believe he will be able to play although his back will still be hurting.

JURGEN MELZER YOU ARE TERRIFIC

It looks like he's been replaced by Lapentti.

Yes he withdrew from Boodles but he will play Wimbledon

poor Marcos Baghdatis is very unlikely to play though... injured his knee very seriously today looks like he will be out for a long time

Baghdatis is toast

Gosh, Marcos is so unlucky.

Re: Wimbledon Entry List/Fact Sheet (updated June 18, 2009)

For the rankings and if he losed in the 1st round (which is quite likely ),

is Canas considered as a wild-card (0 point) or as a direct entry (10 points) ?

Alternates that become direct acceptances receive 10 points (the same number as the other direct acceptances) for R128 losses:

It doesn't happen too often.

In 2008, the AELTC awarded only 4/8 main draw (& 7/9 qualifying) wild cards for Wimbledon.

Also in Marseille 2009, one main draw wild card was not awarded. In that case, the qualifying had already started so a lucky loser got IN instead of an alternate:

Baghdatis is out according to Sky Sports News. Didn't catch who has replaced him as Lucky Loser, though.

SSN also reported that Nadal is still in the changing rooms at Hurlingham discussing his options after losing to Wawrinka in a Champions' tie-break.
