2009 Roland Garros 'Battle of the Boards' pick 'em contest

The ROLAND GARROS 'BATTLE OF THE BOARDS' PICK 'EM contest is now open for entries at http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html - qualifiers have already been placed on the entry form.

Entries will close at 09.00 GMT / 11.00 CET / 5 am US EDT on SUNDAY.

As usual, if anyone would like to encourage potential new team members by telling them how much fun these competitions are, please go ahead.

In essence, it works like FITD on here or the ATP Bracket Challenge (so you can enter in a couple of minutes by re-using your picks for either of those contests) but with a different scoring system which balances the effects of rounds a bit more and a team element - as well as playing for the individual title, you can compete against RogerFederer.com, AndyMurray.com, AndyRoddick.com, BritishTennis.net, etc, to help MTF to win the team title too.

There is also a Hall of Fame and an overall year-round ranking system - your best 7 scores from up to 9 tournaments count, with slam scores allowed to count twice, so you actually end up counting 7 scores from 13.

There's an entry limit of 500, with the top 250 in the overall rankings getting automatic entry as long as they get their picks in before the deadline shown above and other entrants being accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Given the (for a slam) unusually early deadline, we are unlikely to hit the limit this time, but with 450+ entrants for each of the last two slams, it's not impossible that we will.

MTF won the last but one BOTB pick 'em, which was held for Miami, finished mid-table in Rome and in the bottom half at the AO.

Good luck!

Thank you to all 23 of you who entered. Unusually, you didn't have a good day 1, but I'm sure things will get better! Quite a strange day - the person I run the comp with and me had very different picks and both ended up with the same score.

Goodness knows how 5 entrants managed to get 15/16 ...

I'd blame the players if I were you - maybe you'll do better on grass in a couple of weeks time.

Well done to jcreback, Invu2day, Snoo Foo and out_here_grindin, who all finished in the top 100 of the individual table.
