Re: Barcelona: testing draw for Nadal

with the competition he faces these days, there is noch such thing like a testing draw for Rafa on clay
if he loses, it's due to injury or fatigue like vs. Ferrero

Re: Barcelona: testing draw for Nadal

He did get a rather brutal draw and if he were playing his best he should be able to get through it. However he isn't and Nalbandian has given Nadal fits in the past while Davydenko has pushed Nadal on clay. He will need to be playing better to get past those two. Not to mention he will have a tough matchup probably against Verdasco or Ferrer who pushed him to 3 sets here last year. For a 500 this is a pretty tough draw.

I guess Roddick must be the greatest player to ever play the game.

He seems to be getting the tougher side of the draw every time, but hey.

As I said in a different post, if he's to win he needs to find his 2008 clay form. His current form reminds me of Nadal from 2/3 ago: returning short / placing the ball short allowing the opponent to hit a winner of off it.

Uncle Toni must have spotted that, no?
Yeah, definetly a tougher draw for a non AMS/Grand Slam. Gasquet is complete shit and Nadal could beat him with a blind fold but definetly nothing easy with Davydenko or Wawrinka. Nadal probably would be better served to miss Barcelona though and prepare for Madrid and Rome. I doubt he can really be at his best for all 4 of those tourneys including Roland Garros.

He wasnt going to anyway for a couple of other reasons.

1 - He's not good
2 - Barcelona is a lower tournament than Rome.

Peter Polansky
Nestor - Chvojka - Pospisil - Raonic - Peliwo

1. Good enough to reach world #1.
2. Doesn't matter. There's one SE spot available for Rome. But I guess you didn't bother checking the entry list.
