Strange decision but women get fed up with tennis easier than men, it really messes up your head this damned sport.

Not sure about that this time. Think it could be forever. I will miss her double faults and rollercoaster matches

Re: Elena Dementieva Retirement

Very strange decision, but obviously not surprising. I think she will return though.

Maybe seeing the success Kim has had since return, Elena probably thought retiring and then coming back a few months later would give her the same outcome as it did Kim.

Re: Elena Dementieva Retirement

Why do people keep saying she'll come back then compare her to Clijsters and Henin? Those players retired about 3 years younger than Dementieva is. The latter is 29, IF she's coming back, she'll have at least taken a some months or a year off, which would make her 30, coupled with how long it'll take her to get parts of her game up to scratch like her serve(which is already bad enough when not rusty), A return just doesn't make any sense.

If she'd wanted to retire and come back, she could have done so about 3 years ago when she wasn't up to where she is now.

I agree with Silly. Elena is a lot older and this is coming at about the right time- I don't see a comeback here. Although I am sad to see her retire, wish she could have one a slam.

Re: Elena Dementieva Retirement

She is so classy but if she wants to retire & start a family she should. She can always come back- Kimiko Date Krumm and Kim Clijsters came back better in my opinion.
